Lotteries Guide

Lotteries are beyond doubt the oldest games in the world. The first lottery dated from about 200 B. C. In Europe it was held as entertainment during dinners and various favors were prizes. But the first lottery with money prizes took place in 1530 in Florence, one of the richest and most beautiful cities of Italy. That lottery was organized in such a way that all the ticket holders were sure to receive some special prizes. But the Netherlands was the first country to levy taxes on lotteries prizes.  By the way the made money was used  as donations to the poor, bridge building, and so on. In the Dutch language the meaning of the word 'lottery' is derivative from destiny.

All over the world lotteries' runners promise to make winnings as much as the half of the revenue. That's why lotteries grant the biggest jackpots to their players in comparison to other games gambled on earth. At the same time lotteries have the hugest edge that achieves almost 50%.

USA lotteries are held in forty states and D. C., while executives of the rest ten states discuss organization of lotteries. Above half of the Americans buy a lottery ticket every year in the US spending some $46 billion. A great part of revenues is spent on education, this actually was the primary aim of running lotteries. Remember that US citizens are to pay all the taxes of their winnings and it's illegal to participate in any international lotteries.

Lotteries are controlled by counties where they take place. Each country that has lotteries within the law has a certain regulation, including a manner and  time of drawing, a price per ticket, and lottery taxes that vary from one country to another. For example there are no lottery taxes to be levied in Canada and Australia, while the US taxes amount to 38%. Besides the taxes are thought to be regressive in the United States of America, for the rich rarely play lotteries. As for law regulation there is always a certain age limit all over the world. For instance for Americans it's legal to play being over eighteen years old. In Italy children are not allowed to gamble, while they can play lotteries. There was a case in 2005 when a schoolboy succeeded in winning a lottery and getting some $40 million. Life is a lottery!

Keep in mind that not all the countries support lotteries and in some they are prohibited. Speaking to the point in the US you can find multi-state or single-state lotteries.
